Moyes To Give Fer Chance?
Everton certainly seem to be building for the future and this morning are being linked with Leroy Fer.
Fer is currently signed with Feyenoord and is on the verge of breaking into the Dutch International team. The 20 year old has been described as a box-to-box midfielder and has an aggression and commitment to his game that would suit the Premier League style of play.
Last months Guardian highlighted Fer as one of Dutch footballs most promising yougsters. Thomas Watt wrote, “Ferocious in the tackle, sensible with possession and capable of driving forward runs, the 20-year-old has been singled out by his captain, Van Bronckhorst, as one of the best players in the side.”
Nicknamed ‘The Bouncer’, the 6ft 2in Feyenoord star has also been likened to Edgar Davids and Patrick Viera. With 3 years first team football under his belt he is a rare prospect in football. Even with a hefty 4m price tag hanging around his neck he looks like a sound investment for the Toffee’s who have been tracking him months.
The story appears to have broken from Rotterdam with sources at the club stating they expect him to join Everton. Now that the story has hit the back pages Moyes will have to close the deal promptly to avoid the now predictable last minute raids from clubs like Manchester City and Tottenham.
