Has The Goose Flown

There have been rumours flying about for weeks, but it now looks likely that Dan Gosling is set to leave Everton. The England Under-21 star has had a Premier League Inquiry rule in his favour regarding an administration error that leaves him a free agent.

It is obvious that Gosling intention wasn’t to stay at Goodison, let’s face up to facts, if he wanted to negotiate a deal with the club he wouldn’t have gone to the Premier League for an Inquiry. Neither can it be about a football career, if the rumours are true. None of the clubs linked with Dan could touch Everton for Youth Development.

Perhaps there’s still time for Dan to u-turn and negotiate a future with Everton? Could this whole ‘misunderstanding’ be recovered and put down to experience? Either way, I can’t see that match winners in any of the North East derby’s would stand up to ‘That Goal’.

I’m sure that questions will be asked behind closed doors at Goodison and I’m sure the person responsible will have answers and be dealt with. What isn’t good for the club, especially a team during preseason, is a public forum and the supporters up in arms.

With all what happened surrounding LescoteGate this time last year, surely our supporters should be concentrating on the players who want to stay and who are currently under contract at the club.

The preseason, so far, has been unusually up beat for the club and I’m sure that arrivals at the club haven’t yet concluded. Who knows, if we could put to bed some of the issues surrounding players like Arteta and Pienaar it could be quite a year ahead of us.
