Yak ‘Agrees’ To Sign for Hammers

Goal UK are reporting that Yakubu is to become Avram Grant’s first major signing when he completes his move from Portsmouth early next week. Upton Park sources, claim Goal UK, state that Yakubu has verbally agreed in principle to join the Hammers after the World Cup. Avram Grant is confident that a bid of around £7 million will be enough to get the big Nigerian.

Yakubu revealed earlier this month that he almost joined Spurs from Everton before injury cut short any chances he had of making that move.

The £7m departure of The Yak, coupled with the possible £15m transfer of Pienaar would give David Moyes somewhat of a unprecedented war chest this summer, who would you like to see brought in?

I would rather see us keep all of our players than lose anyone especially Yak who at the moment is prob the best Striker we have based on Saha’s second half of last season.

Who are we going to get to replace him? sign Jo again/ Beckford? bloody hope not
I hope this is a mastermove by moyes and he already has a capable replacement lined up and Im sure he will.

The way things are looking we are going to lose
Yak,Yobo,Pienaar,Arteta. All of these are the base of our team and looking at our start of last season when we lost 1 player, think of how we are going to struggle losing 4 or 5 of them!

    I hate close season!

From your list i think that, depending on the replacements Moyes has in mind obviously, they are all replaceable. Yak has been patchy and looked disinterested since his return (yes I know it was a massive injury), Yobo is a mediocre back-up to Distin, Heitinga and Jags, Pienaar would be great business at £15m+ and Arteta at £20m+.

We could potentially raise upwards of £42m from 4 players, two of whom have featured very infrequently this season, then it will be up to Moyes he can spot a TOP QUALITY purchase for good money. This will be the time to judge Moyes and his ambition, we could have an excellent squad next year instead of just an excellent first XI.

Have to disagree Liam – I think everton need a striker more than anything else and with no signs of Saha leaving, Yakubu would be pushed even further down the ranks with an additional striker and for a 50k a week player, who hasn’t shown much of his 1st season form since coming back from injury £7-8 million, plus to the £2.5m saving a year on wages, I feel would be a good piece of business. Again I think if we can recoup 7m for Yobo, we have an additional £14-15m to spend this summer, then if we buy (like linked) Vertonghen for £10m and use our budgeted funds with the additional revenue for a striker in the 10-15m bracket our squad will have lost very little. Hopefully no one else would leave as we do have a very good squad – Hopefully Pienaar will get signed up, he wants to stay and has shown he is our best player this year!!

42 mill does sounds nice dan!! but i can’t see arteta leaving, i think we’ll have ta take 22mill for the yak, yobo and pienaar, i think peinaar’s move would be a bad deal for him.. he’s a player who shines through the way we play, his partner ship with baines is great.. he’s replaceable… moutinho’s come out n said he’s definetely leaving sporting this summer.. could this be the year?!?! i’d even like to see robbie keane in…

Chris, im agreeing with your point that we need more strike power I think my point was misunderstood,
Yes Yak and Yobo are replaceable and Yobo is a defo to go as he cant get in the team
I dont care how much money we get for Pienaar or Arteta I would rather keep both as if we replace them we have to go through the whole process of moulding them into team players and learning the Moyes way of doing things and look at the beggining of last season to see that players need half a season to gel together.

Can you name a few Strikers who may be available to buy?
Keene (rubbish and an ex red nose)
Beckford (arnt we signing him on a freemans anyway?)
Zigic (signing for Brum this week)
    Huntelaar (wages too high)

I cant think of a better striker than Yak available in any league

Defo agree with Vertonghen he is class
But 7 Million for Yobo?! your having a laff mate haha

Yes but surely Arteta and Pienaar are by far the best playmakers at the club
    Why let them go?

If they want to go then fair enough take 100 million off City if they are daft enough to pay it

I think Pienaar will go as Moyes wont want to risk losing him for nothing next season

Didnt Pienaar come out about a month ago saying he doesnt want to leave Everton and loves it here? The only reason you’d forgive him and arteta for leaving would be to show their talents in the Champs league as they are both capable……although we are more than capable of pushing for 4th next season off the back of 2 defeats in the last 23 games baring in mind we keep players like those.

I would like to see mouthinho and vertonghen arrive so seeing the back of yak and yobo wouldnt be the end of the world.

I think the only players to leave this summer will be Yobo, Yakubu and Piennar. i would say 17(par) 8(yak) 4(yob) 29 mil so vertonghen yes, thats 8 mil gone then moutinho and Veloso 15mil gone then 6mil left to spend on a striker plus a bit of help from the board. I think Keirrison, Cardozo, Aquafresca or Pavlyuchenko would be good signings for forwards, and if the rumours are true i we would have o’hara, hutton and Jenas for pienaar and 6 million. David Moyes please comment because i really good on football manager.

lets be realistic, you wont get moutinho and veloso for 15m, its just not gonna happen, sporting are going to watch that for each player, AT LEAST. plus, i was well behind the idea of getting moutinho, a few years ago, when we needed that kind of player in the middle, but to be honest, he just doesnt fit everton anymore. when we played them he didnt look that good, and ive been living in portugal this year and he hasnt looked very good at all. weve got fellaini, arteta, heitinga, cahill, rodwell etc to play in the middle and would rather them to be honest.
sadly theres a good chance of us loosing pienaar, but cant see arteta going, not from what hes said recently, and i think he also feels he owed the club a bit, after being out for so long.
so sell one of either yakubu or saha and one of either yobo or distin, and get a proper decent striker in. id argue thats all we need. would be nice to sure up the right back position, but its not essential this season, maybe next.

Seamus coleman is our sure up for right back and we got Hibbert and Neville who both play right back so thats a position I would say we are strongest in,

Left Mid is where we are going to be short when Pienaar go’s
and I think we are already short up front with Yak and Saha not being able to buy a goal between them for a while

We are going to lose at least 1 of the 4 mentioned (yak, yob, peanut, mikel)
But I actually have a feeling Moyes will pull a trick out of his sleve for replacing them given enough time, just look at last seasons deadline day signings, Heitinga, Billy, Distan, all of these players showed class at points this season

true. i think this will be a big season for billy to be honest. if were lucky he can step up and almost replace pienaar if he goes. i dont think he would be as good as, but near enough if he can play to his potential regularly. yeh were short up front, but like you say, those two cant buy a goal between them, so as strikers, theyre pretty useless, rather get some money for them and bring in someone who can score some goals. this season is make or break time for anichebe and vaughan though, theyve gotta come up with the goods soon if you ask me. i know what you mean about moyes and his good signings, but id rather not have to wait until deadline day if at all possible.
distin can cover at lb, weve got rb cover. midfield is ok (if pienaar stays, otherwise we need to replace him) so its pretty much just up front.
sounds crazy, but if we could raise the cash and persuade berbatov to join for maybe 20m, then him paired with someone big like anichebe or yak could do well. just an idea, although if it work youd be stuck with big wages and not a great sell on value after he flopped at two clubs in a row. but if anyone can get him working and enjoying his football again, its moyes.

Ok guys simple maths…Arteta £20m + Pienaar £15m + Yak £7m is £42m so the way some of you have worked it out, we are now a player extra! So that 3 out not 4!!!
My opinion would be that if pienaar went, the £15m could go straight to a deal for Moutinho because lets face it, we’ve got to have paid off the £2m signing fee for Pienaar so no one is waiting to take a chunk like Wolves from the Lescott deal. And if the Moutinho deal goes through, I would say we would have a solid and creative enough midfield with Fella, Cahill, Rodders, Moutinho, and Arteta. I think the key though could be that Moyes replace Arteta if he wants to go, but get the £20m for him, again, no £2m to be paid out as he has since signed an extension so that money would be in the kitty.
I would offload Hibbert to Acrington Stanley and replace him with young Coleman with back 4 cover coming from Neville. We have a suitable “bad lieutenant” in Heitinga, and I cant wait to see what he does next season.
Baines will maybe be knackered hopefully after this summer and we need leftback cover. As regards the front man, Beckford could be another Nugent, but in that he is available on a free, Everton wont be held to ransom for £6m…still annoyed by that Nugent chap (aka Jeffers in disguise) I think Beckford is wonrth a punt, he’ll do a Cottee and score a hatrick on his debut and wont score the resta the season!! Vic and Vaughan, the Waldorf and Stadlers should now go, theres an extra £3m for yez boys, though now we seriously need to get in a big name striker as cover for Saha…I think Moyesy will pull another kid outta the academy for one of the positions, but we’ll see. I must agree with you all that I am shitting myself everyday looking at the web to see whats happening with Arteta, but definitely let Pienaar go, between him and his agent, how are they representative of our clubs ethics, he’s holding out for a move to Spurs for Champions League football which I would almost bet my house on we will get next season given we were 9pts or three wins from the 4th place and considering we had 15pts from 14 games….wise up Harry, your having a laugh!!!
In Moyes we trust, regards to the family!

Vaughan will go to Leicester for a million, Yak and Yobo are off to West Ham for 12 mill and Moyes will take Keane and 7 for Peanuts. He likes Keane’s versatility of playing the Cahill role or up front. He has the young Portuguese boy coming in to replace Vaughan (can’t remember his name off the top of my head, but the one who is the next Pauleta).

Moyes will have around £20/£25 mill to spend, and will bring in Vertogen for around £12 mill.

Nash and Hibbert may also be off (Mucha already there to replace Nash, and Coleman as backup to Nev).

Arteta to follow his mate Cahill’s lead and sign for life.

Expect a few suprise deadline signings to bolster the squad, not the first team.

Oh, and Oli, I’m sure DM will be contacting you soon. If your very good at Football Manager, then I’m sure you have the nouse to run a real premiership team ;)

How is that Yakubu can agree to a move when Everton have not been approached. He is being linked to a dysfunctional club, without a manager and with creditors demanding they are repaid or be forced into administration. What do the owners plan to raise the funds -nightly strip shows at Upton Park ?
