City in for Mikel

Manchester City have reportedly made initial contact with Everton over a £20m+ move for midfielder Mikel Arteta in what could turn out to be a similar saga to last years transfer of Joleon Lescott, that all but ruined Evertons season. The reported initial bid apparently also includes a swap deal for Stephen Ireland, who no longer sees his future at Eastlands.

However Everton are currently in contract negotiations with ‘the best little Spaniard we know’, in a bid to ward off interest from City and indeed Arsenal who look set to lose Fabregas.

Only time will tell whether or not Arteta or Pienaar (wanted by Spurs, City, Arsenal and a host of European clubs) will be at Everton next year, but either way I hope it is sorted very soon.
